Tuition & Support
Every learner is different, so the support they need can look different too.
Some come to us because they need help with a particular topic. Others are working towards a qualification, need extra support alongside school, or want a little more structure in their home education.
We offer English, Maths and Digital Skills, with options including online tuition, small groups and one-to-one support. We take time to understand where each learner is starting from and adapt our teaching to suit them — whether that means slowing things down, explaining something differently or building confidence before moving on.
The goal is always the same: learning that works for the child in front of us.
One-to-One Tuition
Some learners simply do better with someone completely focused on them. One-to-one sessions give us the time to work at their pace, concentrate on the areas they find difficult and explain things in a way that makes sense to them.
Sessions can be used for English or Maths, whether that's helping with a particular topic, support alongside school, Functional Skills or GCSE preparation. We can also focus on specific areas such as spelling and handwriting, fractions or times tables, or simply help a learner rebuild their confidence after finding learning difficult.
There’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else. If something needs explaining three different ways, we’ll explain it three different ways. If a learner needs more time, they get more time.
It’s individual support, built around the learner rather than a set lesson plan.
Small Group Sessions
Our small group sessions give learners the chance to work alongside others while still getting plenty of individual help and support. Lessons are friendly, flexible and designed to make learning feel a little less daunting — particularly for children who may not have felt comfortable in more traditional learning environments.
We teach English and Maths, adapting activities so learners can work at an appropriate level without everyone having to do exactly the same thing. Some sessions involve individual work, while others include games, challenges, discussions and activities learners can tackle together.
For many of our home-educated learners, the groups become about more than just the work. They get to know each other, have a laugh, share their interests and build friendships — without the pressure to join in or be anyone other than themselves.
We still have goals and plenty of learning happens, but we don't believe every session needs to look like a classroom. Sometimes the best progress happens when a learner is relaxed enough to ask the question they were worried was silly, have another go at something they got wrong, or realise they're actually capable of more than they thought.

Online Learning
Learning online doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly watching someone talk at a screen. Our sessions are live and interactive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, join in and work things through together.
We teach English, Maths and Digital Skills online, with learners working alongside others at a similar level. Sessions are relaxed and supportive, and we’re always happy to slow things down, explain something differently or go over something again when needed.
Online tuition can work particularly well for home-educated learners, families who need more flexibility, or children who simply feel more comfortable learning from home. It also means learners can access B&H wherever they are in the UK.
For learners working towards Functional Skills, we can support them from their starting point right through to exam preparation. Our online platform also gives English and Maths learners the opportunity to practise independently between live sessions while allowing us to keep track of their progress.
Although lessons happen through a screen, getting to know our learners still matters to us. We want them to feel comfortable enough to ask questions, have a laugh, get something wrong and try again — just as they would with us in person.
